OUR STORY

When Daniel John (founder) attended a week-long outreach trip to the Tohono O’Odham Native Indian reservation, he witnessed the severity of its conditions as well as the impact of external aid. His trip inspired him to become proactive in the fight against poverty. During his junior year in high school, he founded Nova Spero as a local effort in his mission. He also worked with several local artists to publish children’s story book - Leo finds Nova Spero as a tribute to amplify the voices of refugee children. After he started college at UCSD, he continued to be involved by brining in new partnerships with UCSD. Through Nova Spero, Daniel seeks to provide a New Hope to the overlooked immigrant youth of his community.

OUR Mission

Nova Spero is a student-run, not-for-profit organization that uses education and mentorship to provide hope to underprivileged immigrant students. We seek to make a difference within San Diego, and you can as well.

Today, 68.5 million people live forcibly displaced-25.4 million of them being refugees. A staggering 40,000 are displaced daily, leading to a need for global strategic aid. At Nova Spero, we seek to make a difference in San Diego, and you can as well.
